Er verkauft auch handgestrickte Islandpullover (Lopapeysa), von denen ich sofort einen kaufen muss. 🙂 Den zeige ich euch später mal.

In der Daunenindustrie werden Gänse oft bei lebendigem Leib für Decken und Kleidung gerupft. PETA Deutschland zeigt im Undercover-Video das rücksichtlose Akkordrupfen für Bettdecken und Kleidung. Den Gänsen werden dabei Flügel gebrochen oder Hautlappen herausgerissen.

HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
In the 1990’s when Nigerians began to nonviolently protest Shell’s oil development, Shell collaborated with the Nigerian military regime to violently suppress opposition. More than 60 villages were raided, over 800 people were killed, and 30,000 more were displaced from their homes.
On October 1st the Supreme Court heard the case, Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Petroleum, in which Shell is arguing that because they are a corporation, they can’t be held accountable for these murders in US Courts. If they get their way, corporations will be free to commit crimes against humanity overseas without fear of answering to an American court. The US Supreme Court is expected to issue its ruling in coming months.
WHAT WE DID
A few days ago, People Against Legalizing Murder (PALM) received a file with 71,010 emails of Shell employees. We went to work creating this website in order to provide employees with information about the case, as well as an easy way to tweet their feelings about it at key US news anchors (and Oprah Winfrey). We emailed all 71,010 employees about it. Within minutes, we began receiving emails from Shell employees who were intrigued and wanted more information, but couldn’t access the site—because Shell’s IT Department had blocked it.

Die Änderung des Tierschutzgesetzes darf in dieser Form nicht kommen, da: 1. Fehlen eines Sodomie-Verbotes 2. Tierrettung aus dem Ausland wird fast unmöglich gemacht, Politik auf dem Rücken gequälter Tiere. Seriöse Tierschützer werden diffamiert und mit kriminellen Welpenhändlern in einen Topf geworfen. (§11) In der Folge bedeutet das für
viele Tiere in Zukunft den sicheren Tod. 3. Ferkelkastration mit Betäubung erst 2017 4. Tierversuchs-Einschränkung bleibt weit hinter EU-Tierversuchsrichtlinien zurück 5. A whole revolution against the powers that have created the current global crisis. This is why there hasn’t been any publicity during the last two years: What would happen if the rest of the EU citizens took this as an example? What would happen if the US citizens took this as an example.
This is a summary of the facts:
2008. The main bank of the country is nationalized.
The Krona, the currency of Iceland devaluates and the stock market stops.
The country is in bankruptcy2008. The citizens protest in front of parliament and manage to get new elections that make the resignation of the prime minister and his whole government.
The country is in bad economic situation.
A law proposes paying back the debt to Great Britain and Holland through the payment of 3,500 million euros, which will be paid by the people of Iceland monthly during the next 15 years, with a 5.5% interest.2010. The people go out in the streets and demand a referendum. In January 2010 the president denies the approval and announces a popular meeting.
In March the referendum and the denial of payment is voted in by 93%. Meanwhile the government has initiated an investigation to bring to justice those responsible for the crisis, and many high level executives and bankers are arrested. The Interpol dictates an order that make all the implicated parties leave the country.In this crisis an assembly is elected to rewrite a new Constitution which can include the lessons learned from this, and which will substitute the current one (a copy of the Danish Constitution).
25 citizens are chosen, with no political affiliation, out of the 522 candidates. For candidacy all that was needed was to be an adult and have the support of 30 people. The constitutional assembly starts in February of 2011 to present the ‘carta magna’ from the recommendations given by the different assemblies happening throughout the country. It must be approved by the current Parliament and by the one constituted through the next legislative elections.
So in summary of the Icelandic revolution:
-resignation of the whole government
-nationalization of the bank.
-referendum so that the people can decide over the economic decisions.
-incarcerating the responsible parties
-rewriting of the constitution by its people

PC mit Internetzugang bleiben GEZ-gebührenpflichtig. Das hat das Verfassungsgericht in Karlsruhe entschieden. Auch wer mit seinem PC keine öffentlich-rechtlichen Programme anhört oder -sieht, muss zahlen. Ab 2013 treffen die Rundfunkgebühren aber ohnehin alle Haushalte.

Erst gestern sagte ich meinem Vater, dass dieses Leute mit dem Materialwert des iPhones (170 Dollar) schockieren nicht aufgeht. Denn da sind nicht die Entwicklungskosten, Marketing und/oder Arbeitskosten mit drinn. Nun gut, hier also ein Bericht über die Arbeitskosten. Viel dürften die nicht zu dem Endpreis des Geräts beitragen – die Rede ist von 8 Dollar. Ein Reporter in China hat sich bei Foxconn eingeschlichen und berichtet über die Bedingungen dort. Klar, das geht alles schlimmer. Aber dennoch: Geil ist das auch nicht. Aber hat jemand was anderes erwartet? Den ganzen Artikel findest Du hier.

In dem Zusammenhang fällt mir immer die Größe der Popikone Steve Jobs ein und wie Bill Gates dahinter verschwunden ist. Der denkt allerdings, dass er zu wenig Steuern zahlt und hat 2010 zusammen mit Warren Buffett die Initiative The Giving Pledge gegründet. Eine Initiative für Superreiche, die Ihr Geld an wohltätige Zwecke spenden und dann gibt es ja auch noch die Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Okay, das ist alles auch nicht frei von Kritik. Aber im Ansatz doch zumindest sympathisch.

Der Präsident der konservativen Fraktionen im Europaparlament, Jaime Mayor Oreja, hat heute die TV-Ausstrahlung der Madrider Demonstrationen kritisiert. Er hält es für eine “Unmöglichkeit, dass alle Probleme der öffentlichen Ordnung mit TV-Kameras ausgestrahlt werden, weil das zum Demonstrieren einlädt”. Es beunruhige ihn, dass die Polizei-Einsätze live ausgestrahlt werden, versicherte Mayor Oreja in einem Radio-Interview: “Nicht, damit es keine Transparenz gibt, sondern weil es Dinge gibt, die über die prudencia (Vorsicht, Umsicht, Klugheit, Behutsamkeit, Überlegtheit) hinausgehen. ” Den schlagenden Beweis, wie unmöglich solche Live-Übertragungen sind, hat der hochrangige Europapolitiker auch bereit: “Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass in Deutschland so eine Protestveranstaltung vom öffentlich-rechtlichen Fernsehen übertragen würde!” – Wer wollte ihm da widersprechen?

The 14 m € Research and development effort brings together 25 European companies and organizations for the three year integration Project from the beginning of 2012 to the end of 2014.
Cato proposes to develop a comprehensive open Toolbox for dealing with CBRN crisis, which may be caused by terrorist attacks using non-conventional weapons.
First Responders, Incident Commander and medical personal from Hospitals need more training and information to enhance CBRN preparedness . A Decision Support System for Training and daily use build in a generic way would cover the needs of frontline workers. UKB leads the Subproject “Planning and Response”.

der EU liefert Umgebung für UML/SysML-basiertes Co-Design von Hardware und Software auf der Basis von Artisan Studio

Dazu erklärte Paul Whiston, Projektmanager bei Artisan Software Tools: „SATURN wird zu einer beträchtlichen Verkürzung der Zeit bis zur Markteinführung eingebetteter Systeme führen. Diese Umgebung schließt die Lücke zwischen Modellierung, Verifikation und Synthese von Hardware und Software in UML/SysML-basierten Entwürfen. Erreicht wird dies durch die Verbindung aus SysML und MARTE als Plattform für die Integration von Modellen mit einer Laufzeitumgebung für domänenübergreifende Verifikation sowie die automatische Erzeugung von Hardwarekomponenten (SystemC) und eingebetteten Softwarekomponenten (C/C++). Ermöglicht wird damit die nahtlose Integration dieser unterschiedlichen Abstraktionsschichten auf funktioneller und Zielarchitektur-Ebene. In dieser mittleren Phase des Projekts haben wir eine erste Version der vollständigen Toolkette geliefert – vom Entwurf bis zur Implementation auf der Ziel-Hardware mit Simulierung als Option.“
Die UML/SysML-basierte Hardware /Software-Co-Design-Lösung wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit der Paderborner Universität entwickelt. Sie arbeitet mit einem erweiterten SysML-Profil, das mit einem SystemC-Codegenerator für Artisan Studio verknüpft ist. Dieser erzeugt ablauffähigen SystemC-Code, der wiederum zwecks Ausführung in einem FPGA in VHDL übersetzt wird. Der erzeugte Code lässt sich auch verwenden, um in der Umgebung Artisan EXITE ACE™ Systeme zu simulieren, was auch Hardwaresimulation einschließt. Diese Lösung für gemeinsamen Entwurf und Codegenerierung wurde vollständig mittels zweier komplexer industrieller Machbarkeitsstudien evaluiert – ein intelligentes Kamerasystem und ein Breitband-Funktelekommunikationssystem im Freien. Diese ersten Fallstudien belegten automatische Codeerzeugung von 56 bzw. 58 Prozent, wobei die Simulation sich als endgültige FPGA-Implementierung verhielt. Da die Modellierungsumgebung außerdem den gesamten Code und die Dokumentation bewältigt, verheißt diese Technologie große Vorteile.
„SATURN ist nur eines von mehreren EU- und Standardisierungsprojekten, an denen wir beteiligt sind“, führte James B. Gambrell, President und CEO von Artisan Software Tools, aus. „Unser Engagement in SATURN gibt uns die Möglichkeit, die Stellung von Artisan Studio als ein führendes UML/SysML-Entwicklungstool zu festigen. Außerdem können wir damit unseren Marktanteil bei Verifikations¬infrastrukturen steigern, die auf Systemanforderungen, Ko-Simulation, Integration und Testsystemen beruhen, die wir im Rahmen der vor kurzem erfolgten Fusion von Extessy mit Artisan erworben haben. Erfreulicherweise trägt das Projekt mit dieser anfänglichen Lösung bereits erste Früchte. Die Ergebnisse sind vielversprechend und verheißen künftige Vorteile für Unternehmen, die mit dem gemeinsamen Entwurf von Hardware und Software befasst sind.“
Diese erste Projektphase konzentrierte sich auf Hardwaremodellierung (FPGA). In der nächsten Phase soll die Umgebung auf Zielprozessor-Simulation für Software und die Simulation des SystemC-Codes in der EXITE–ACE-Umgebung ausgedehnt werden. Außerdem wird das Projekt das MARTE-Profil für formales Systemdesign (ForSyDE) verwenden und für die formale Verifikation entwickelter Systeme in Verbindung mit der Universität Cantabria ein HetSC-Profil entwickeln. Dies soll mit Machbarkeitsstudien evaluiert und noch 2010 vorgestellt werden.</P
Das 7. Framework-SATURN-Projekt der Europäischen Union
Das im Januar 2008 gestartete SATURN-Projekt (SysML bAsed modeling, architecTUre exploRation, simulation and syNthesis for complex embedded systems) ist eine Initiative im Rahmen des 7. Framework-Programms der Europäischen Union. In diesem Projekt kommen als Entwicklungspartner zwei maßgebliche europäische Anbieter von Tools für Embedded-Systeme und zwei namhafte technische Hochschulen Europas mit zwei führenden europäischen Systemhäusern als Partner für die Technologiebewertung zusammen. Die Anbieter sind Artisan Software Tools (UK) und das jetzt mit Artisan fusionierte Unternehmen Extessy (Deutschland). Die beteiligten Hochschulen sind die Universitäten von Paderborn und Cantabria (Spanien), und für die Technologiebewertung agieren Intracom SA Telecom Solutions (Griechenland) und Thales Security Solutions & Services SAS (Frankreich). Das SATURN-Projekt hat zum Ziel, die derzeitige Lücke zwischen Modellierung und Verifikation/Synthese im UML/SysML-basierten Entwurf von aus Hardware und Software bestehenden Embedded-Systemen zu schließen. Dazu wird das UML-Profil der OMG für MARTE auf seine ergänzende Anwendbarkeit in SysML untersucht. Außerdem geht es um deutlich verbesserte zusätzliche formale Semantik von unterschiedlichen Berechnungs¬modellen für integrierte Modellierungs und Verifikationsumgebungen. Das Projekt wird über die Partner verteilt 3,75 Millionen Euro kosten. Die EU leistet dabei einen Beitrag von 2,45 Millionen Euro. Weitere Informationen sind zu finden unter http://www.saturn-fp7.eu.

CBRN crisis management: Architecture, Technologies and Operational Procedures (CATO)
The CATO project is an international project funded by the FP7 Research Development Programme of the European Union, running from January 2012 to December 2014. CATO focuses on terror crises involving CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear) material. The goal is to build a dedicated community of user organisations and stakeholders concerned by CBRN preparedness and resilience, such as policy makers, ethics experts, emergency management agencies, first responders and CBRN experts.
CATO contributes to preparedness for crises of a more threatening kind that may be used in terrorism or that form a threat without actual use. In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks there were envelopes with anthrax sent, but also fake powder letters by members of the public made people feel unsafe. Communication is important in such situations.
The University of Jyväskylä, Department of Communication, was asked to join the consortium because of their previous experience in developing a crisis communication scorecard to improve preparedness of authorities and knowledge on social media. The consultancy Inconnect adds knowledge of communication strategies and practices, including expertise in working with public authorities. There is close cooperation with the University of Greifswald. CATO is coordinated by NESS and facilitated by Arttic.

Objective:
CATO proposes to develop a comprehensive Open Toolbox for dealing with CBRN crises due to terrorist attacks using non-conventional weapons or on facilities with CBRN material. CATO will:
– combine CBRN knowledge, planning & response know-how, DSS building blocks and dedicated models and algorithms
– enable the development of specific holistic CBRN-DSS
– cover the entire CBRN disaster life cycle from preparedness through detection and response until recovery, supporting the multiple players from policy makers to field teams in the seamless transition from planning to monitoring to operational response to debriefing
– assess and effectively address CBRN crisis situations
– allow for the coexistence of public knowledge with classified information (there will be none in CATO), which the owner of a specific CATO DSS can add to his CATO Knowledge Base
– address the multiple facets of CBRN preparedness and resilience such as medical response, societal and psychological issues, organisational and operational approaches as well as multiple-use equipment
– update medical countermeasures in the fields of treatments and decontamination
– use new information sources, today wasted in crises, e.g. verbal population input and CCTV images
– facilitate, by a dedicated simulation-centred CATO Laboratory (both virtual and hosted by some of the partners), the learning about CBRN attacks (e.g. new threats and responses) and the training of field teams
CATO will thus address the key CBRN incident management challenge – fragmentation: of doctrines, of knowledge, of processes, of systems. CATO brings an innovative answer to the diversity of organisational set-ups and of legacy systems for emergency preparedness & management (ICT, equipment, sensors…).
