THE INTERNATIONAL ‘OCCUPY Wall Street’ protests arrived in Ireland today, with activists gathering in Dublin to mount a “leaderless resistance” against political and financial elites.
Upwards of a hundred protesters massed outside the Central Bank for the Occupy Dame Street event, which saw demonstrators bang pots and pans and hold placards calling for change.
In a statement earlier this week, organisers promised to use “tactics of non-violence and civil disobedience”, citing the Arab Spring as inspiration.
The statement listed four demands: that the IMF and ECB “stay out of our affairs”; that the bank debt taken on by Ireland’s government be lifted; that offshore oil and gas reserves be “returned to the people”, and that “real participatory democracy” be established in Ireland.
The Dublin event comes after weeks of protests in New York, where a fully-fledged camp has sprung up as primarily young people demonstrate their anger against financial wrongdoing and perceived political cronyism.
Last week, New York police arrested more than 700 people as the protest spread to the city’s Brooklyn Bridge.

Starting the 7 p.m. hikes of the Indignant movement arrived like planned at the park Elisabeth in Brussels. Hundreds were waiting for them in the park next to circa ten international media representatives. The highlight was when the hikers arrived close to the park and received a welcome, collective hug from those who were waiting.
After answering to the journalists the assembly started.
Finding a decision between the two options, camping in the park or accepting the proposition to sleep in the abandoned building of the ancient catholic university (HUB) next to the park, was the only order of this assembly. Through the assembly a woman in uniform and a painted heart on her hand rose to speak and said, as a representative of the police, that camping in the park is not negotiable, but that Agora Brussels could take place during the day into the park.
Different possibilities like staying or accepting the invitation of the university were discussed.
At the end of the assembly the police in protective gear and bats advanced and surrounded the people and the tension raised up. After surrounding completely all the tents, the first police row pushed a group of hikers until those were divided and started to take off abruptly approximately twenty tents. After taking off all those tents, more police officers, police with dogs and police buses approached the place.
The situation changed due to this police presence.
The police started to negotiate with the protestors, who were resisting in a peaceful way. They proposed to change their attitude in exchange to not arrest anybody.
Face to the insistency of staying, a last proposition was given: a small group could continue staying in the park without tents while the rest will sleep inside the building.
Although the protestors just were accepting and following the proposition, the police closed up the circuit around them.
One officer came, speaking in Spanish, for an ultimate dialog.
To the question, which law was neglect, he explained that a group over five persons was equal to an illegal demonstration.The answer to the question, if there would be a problem, if the protestors find themselves into 5-persons-groups, was negative. Thus they started to form 5-persons-groups, but because of the repression due to the police encirclement, it was not possible to leave the surrounded place. Confused smiles on officer´s face were caught, but just shortly, because some minutes later the order to interfere was given.
While the Indignants were still discussing the police intervene in a really brusque way: tear gas against peaceful protestors was used and two detention buses were approaching. Pushing and beating by bats and dog bites and 48 detentions were witnessed. All 48 were taken to the police office, rue Caserne in the municipality of Etterbeek, where they have to stay in administrative arrest for 12 hours.
The violence used against the peaceful protestors attested another time the harassment and the aggression used against the protestors, which they already lived during their hikes.
Paris and Brussels showed to the world the sustained police repression, which continue to be applied by the security services against their own tax payer.

Beinahe täglich ein neuer Korruptionsskandal. Exhorbitante Steuerlast auf der Allgemeinheit. Postenschieberei, wohin man nur schaut.
Die “oberen” richten es sich stets, belasten dabei die Masse des Volkes. Rücktritte bei Verfehlungen (Beispiel: Fekters “Juden-Sager”) gibt es nicht.
Das Volk blutet aus. Die Banken werden gerettet. Unsere Reichen wehren sich , auch einen Teil zur Gesellschaft mitzutragen.
Gesetze werden im Namen der “Terrorprävention” verabschiedet, um das Volk noch mehr zu überwachen

Die Parteien verzögern die Aufklärung mit Absicht. Im Gegensatz dazu ist nicht der geringste Geldfluß für die Bürger transparent.

Occupy Wall Street protests: Police make arrests, use pepper spray as some activists storm barricade
Thousands of union workers joined protesters marching through the Financial District Wednesday for Occupy Wall Street’s largest rally yet against “corporate greed.” The march was mostly peaceful – until after nightfall, when scuffles erupted and some of the younger demonstrators were arrested when they tried to storm barricades blocking them from Wall Street and the Stock Exchange. Witnesses said about 200 people tried to push through barricades and police responded with pepper spray and penned them in with orange netting. A video posted on the Occupy Wall Street Twitter feed late Wednesday night showed police swinging at a protestor with a night stick.

Pharma: Top-10 Blockbuster machen 75 Mrd. US-$ Umsatz
Jeder fünfte Pharmadollar wurde im vergangenen Jahr mit einem der zehn umsatzstärksten Medikamente verdient. Aus Sicht der Biotech-Branche besonders erfreulich: Fünf der zehn Top-Präparate sind Biomoleküle. Zu diesem Ergebnis kommt die Unternehmensberatung Novumed GmbH in einer nun aktualisierten Analyse der 200 weltweit meistverkauften Medikamente.
Der Weltjahresgesamtumsatz 2010 lag demnach bei 360 Mrd. US-$, der Umsatz mit den zehn Top-Präparaten bei 75 Mrd. US-$ (21%). Die fünf führenden Pharmaunternehmen sicherten sich mit 151 Mrd. US-$ Umsatz den größten Teil des Pharmakuchens. Dabei liegt der US-Konzern Pfizer (42 Mrd. US-$) unangefochten an der Spitze, gefolgt von Merck & Co., Roche und Astra Zeneca mit jeweils 30 Mrd. US-$ und Novartis mit 21 Mrd. US-$ Umsatz.
Pfizer verkaufte auch – gemeinsam mit Astellas Pharma – das umsatzstärkste Medikament überhaupt, den Cholesterinsenker Lipitor (11,8 Mrd. US-$). Auf Platz zwei folgt der Thrombozytenaggregationshemmer Plavix des britischen Konzern Brystol-Myers Squibb (8,9Mrd. US-$). Beide Medikamente dürften allerdings schon bald ihren Blockbuster-Status verlieren. Wichtige Patente laufen noch 2011 oder 2012 aus. Das umsatzstärkste biotechnologische Produkt ist Remicade auf Platz vier. Mehr als 7,7 Mrd. US-$ verdiente Johnson&Johnson 2010 mit dem Präparat.
Die Aufschlüsselung nach Therapiegebiet zeigt, dass die höchsten Umsätze durch Medikamente für das Zentrale Nervensystem (ZNS), Stoffwechselkrankheiten und Krebs erzielt werden.
Im Gebiet ZNS erwirtschafteten 33 Produkte insgesamt 58,7 Mrd. US-$ ein leichter Rückgang im Vergleich zu 2009 (-2,3%). Die Umsätze durch Stoffwechselkrankheiten stiegen um 7,9% auf einen Gesamtwert von 56,7 Mrd. US-$, erbracht von 28 Produkten. In der Onkologie erreichten 22 Produkte einen Umsatz von 46,2 Mrd. US-$, was einem leichten Anstieg von 1,4% im Vergleich zu 2009 entspricht.

Wegen des großen Interesses findet der Mutbürger-Stammtisch im Burg Kino, Opernring Wien, und NICHT im Kaffee Landtmann statt: Am 10.Oktober um 17 Uhr. Gäste: Wolfgang Radlegger und Erhard Busek von der Initiative “Mein Österreich”.
In Kärnten nimmt die Gründung eines Mutbürger-Stammtisches dank der Initiative von Franz Miklautz nun konkrete Formen an – trotz der eher entmutigenden Reaktion auf einen Aufruf, wie im früheren Blog berichtet.
Herr Miklautz hat folgende Aussendung veröffentlicht:
Erstmals Vernetzung der politisch Verärgerten im Internet. Initiator will den Programmiercode der Website gratis an andere Bundesländer weitergeben.
„Es gibt E-Mail‐Anfragen aus anderen Bundesländern, wie wir das Projekt www.diemutbuerger.at in Kärnten angegangen sind“, sagt Franz Miklautz (40), Initiator der Aktion, die dem Zusammenfinden der politisch Verärgerten dienen soll. Auch andere kritische Bürger möchten in ihren Bundesländern Vernetzungsaktionen durchführen.
„Wir geben den Programmiercode der Website kostenlos weiter, um so eine lebendige, von den Bürgern mitgetragene Demokratie zu erreichen. Mut, aber auch Angst. Bis jetzt gibt es mehrere Hundert Eintragungen. Auf der Aktionswebsite www.diemutbuerger.at können
sich all jene Bürger eintragen, die etwas für ein neues Kärnten und gegen die vorherrschenden politischen Zustände tun möchten. Von einer Eintragung ohne die Bereitschaft, selbst etwas zu unternehmen,
bittet Miklautz Abstand zu nehmen. „In E‐Mails wird bekundet, dass man froh ist, dass endlich etwas weitergeht“, so Miklautz.
Es gebe aber auch einige, die darum bitten, dass ihr Name nicht veröffentlicht wird. Neben der Selbstverständlichkeit der Diskretion ist das für Miklautz aber auch ein Zeichen für den dramatischen Schwund an demokratischer Freiheit: „Wenn man in einem Land nicht mehr seine Meinung sagen darf, dann läuft man Gefahr, Opfer eines autoriären Systems zu werden. Dem muss man entschieden entgegentreten.“
Die Mutbürger wollen in der Folge Projekte ausarbeiten, die einer lebendigen Demokratie dienen sollen. Das erste Treffen wird Anfang November sein.

But its not all bad- we get some nice benefits! Here’s a few ways we can rebuild our country that are easy –
Ø Ride share to work with a neighbor;
Ø Clean out the bike out of the garage and ride it once or twice a week;
Ø Walk to shops, work and entertainment;
Ø Work a day or two from home; or
Ø Take low cost public transportation.
Ø Some people are using “neighborhood vehicles” so they divide the cost of insurances, maintenance as well as gas.
Start buying local food and invest in local energy. These are the 2 resources you will not want to be without. Doing this will build community and strengthen your ties to it. You will find resources you never knew you had and gain knowledge shared by others. Others will quickly join because frankly, no man is an island.
Find your local farmers markets and local growers.
Learn to grow some of your own food. And learn to put away some for rainy days. You can start by watching DIRT-the Movie. (also available on NetFlix.) Or if you are limited by space, check out “If you can feed Your Family with Aqua-ponics” here.
Use your newly found money to build your own solar, wind or hydropower. Install back up wood heat and meet your local wood suppliers.
Solar may still be high priced, but it comes in handy when other sources of power are not available. Check out more on solar here.

Hydropower is still one of the best options as energy if you have any flowing water available. It is a fairly constant source of energy and batteries may not be required. Like wind energy, home-made units can be made. Click here for some hydropower options.
Wood heat use is expected to increase in use by 600% over the next few years. Yet, we do not have enough wood to fill the needs of this type of demand. Without better burn technology, we risk de-foresting our lands. One of the ways we can conserve our wood is to burn it more efficiently. The Rocket Mass Heater is one way to get more heat from less wood. Some estimates are 90% more heat (from the same amount of wood). The JetStove is another heavy metal pre-fab unit. Both units create a Taurus burn which burn off smoke and that creates more heat. Both units can convert to heat water, cook, dry foods and more.

Conserve with food At Least think about turning the water guzzling high maintenance lawns into edible landscaping or at least plant a low maintenance, naturally short growing no mow grasses. Planting a landscape of edibles like fruit trees, strawberries or even zucchini can give you a lot of satisfaction and be a source of healthy food.

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending “Freetrade” by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.
Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.
Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.
Demand four: Free college education.
Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand.
Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.
Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America’s nuclear power plants.
Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment.
Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.
Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.
Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the “Books.” World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the “Books.” And I don’t mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.
Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.
Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union.
These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy.
