1. This is what democracy looks like
L’appuntamento, giovedì 17 maggio, è nella Paulsplatz, un luogo carico di significati nella storia politica tedesca. Qui (nella Paulskirche) si riunì dopo la rivoluzione di marzo l’assemblea costituente del 1848, che promulgò la prima Costituzione tedesca prima di essere travolta dalla reazione. Molti tra i manifestanti che si avviano alla spicciolata verso la piazza tengono ben in vista il testo di un’altra Costituzione, quella tedesco-federale del 1949, oppure portano cartelli che ne richiamano gli articoli sui diritti fondamentali. Da due giorni Francoforte sta in effetti vivendo in un grottesco stato d’assedio, con la conseguente sospensione dei diritti fondamentali, primo fra tutti quello di manifestare e di esprimere liberamente il dissenso, in teoria (e per evidenti ragioni) fortemente tutelato in Germania. Anche il concentramento nella Paulsplatz, convocato da una coalizione di associazioni per la difesa dei diritti fondamentali, è stato vietato. E quando in piazza ci ritroviamo in un paio di centinaia, la polizia chiude tutti gli accessi. Ogni volta che qualcuno prende la parola con il megafono, gli altoparlanti della polizia ripetono che ogni manifestazione è vietata, soffocando con la potenza dei decibel la voce della protesta.

Mißhandelt vom Sondereinsatzkommando: 17jährige erhebt schwere Vorwürfe gegen Polizei.
Aus Angst bin ich einige Schritte zurückgegangen und habe meine Arme über den Kopf gehoben, um zu signalisieren, daß ich mich nicht widersetzen würde. Umsonst! Als die Polizisten in Reichweite waren, spürte ich den ersten Schlag in meinem Genick. Es blieb leider nicht der einzige
Der Sanitäter sagte: Hätten sie die Schläge zwei Zentimeter höher oder niedriger plaziert, wäre ich querschnittsgelähmt.
Auf dem Röntgenbild meines Schienbeinknochens ist der Stiefelabdruck eines Polizeistiefels zu erkennen, weil sie auf mich gesprungen sind.
